it had been this long since I blogged but apparently...sorry.
It has been an incredibly hectic month. The first 2 weeks of the month I spent working like crazy I could go away on vacation. We went down to Belleville for 8 days - longer than usual for sure. We had a great time, saw some people we haven't seen since Christmas and enjoyed the down time. Truly a wonderfully relaxing vacation. Mom and dad had some major work for Mike too so that kept him truly busy which made him happy too.
This last week Laura has been in science camp. Wow, what a great experience. As with everything new, Laura was very apprehensive and cautious. Her first morning was a trying one with tears and fears but within 5 minutes she was settled and ready for fun. Leaving today, she was sad and wanted to have another week. It was a great experience for her and I am so glad we decided to let her go ahead and try it this summer. Next summer, we will definitely try again.
She came home yesterday talking about "magic milk". The day before, it was body day. She came home with a huge 'scab' on her face - if it had been real, she should have been hospitalized - for body day. She has been talking about plaque on her teeth, how scabs develop and other bodily functions. Truly funny! Today was about rocks. They dug through them, found different ones and made 'rock' candy (ie.fudge). Her first day was all about bugs. She made a moth feeder, created a bug out of tinker toys and learned what frogs eat. Tuesday was water day and they had lots of fun getting wet, creating fun things with water.
Believe it or not...I did not take pictures. I know, shocking and totally irresponsible for a scrapper for sure but I didn't even think about it.

At the recital
a few weeks ago, Laura had such a fab time! She was absolutely glowing and loved showing off her 'poses'. Here is a layout I did based on a challenge. I used glimmer mist so the white paper isn't quite as stark.

A couple new layouts
using some of the fun new American Crafts paper! Love how vibrant it is!
I created this one for MIU #23. I used American crafts, WeRMemory Keepers, Bazzill, Dew Drop and Zig writer. My handwriting is in the title and the flowers are rubons.
Love the paper so much I had to complete another.

Only a couple days left
and she will officially be in grade 1. Unbelievable, she is growing so fast and this year has truly made some dramatic changes. At the beginning of the year, she knew letters, some phonics, numbers to 20. Now, well its truly amazing me. She reads books - level 1-2 early readers, writes stories, lists, any words she wants, colours in the lines, cuts/ tapes and staples papers together to create books, counts beyond 100, knows her numbers and can tell time. Her vocabulary has expanded exponentially and she is no longer struggling with "fronting" her sounds. The speech therapy this year really helped her out.
She has developed closer friendships through this year too. Its so nice to see these developing and becoming so important to her. Getting phone calls for play dates and handing out her phone number - I'm sure I'll be getting sick of this eventually but right now it is just too cute.
They completed graduation on June 18th. Thought I would share some pictures of her in her graduation hat, receiving her diploma from her teacher.
