Its been a good week!

All this time off has given me lots of extra time (between the purging that is) to work on some layouts. Here's what I've created recently. The first one is a picture of Laura I took this summer when we were having a picnic down by the water with the Broharts.
We found some really cool playground equipment at Albert College when I went to Belleville to pick up the girls after their week at grandma and grandpas. This was super cool and the girls loved it!
I know the colours on this are out of whack - the bulk really made it scan bad. This was a picture I took while the girls were having some fun with sparklers in the backyard.

"I can ballet and play hockey, look!"

So grandpa sent the girls some hockey gloves and elbow pads in the mail. They love getting letters and packages in the mail and this was no exception. When they opened it up however, they just didn't know what to do. Laura had to get right on the telephone and let grandpa know she "doesn't play hockey". Jenna on the other hand, just put them on and started 'skating' around the house. Of course, the elbow pads fit her knees better than elbows so that's where they go. After a few laps around the house, she decided to try her dance moves in her new hockey gear - too cute!

A couple additional layouts to share

Some of the layouts I have completed for challenges at the Scrapping Turtle over the lat month. I used the POTM Stix2 PVA glue, foil and glitter for this first layout.

For this one I used the POTM, Bazzill stitch'n cardstock. I placed the bling along the holes in the paper.

October reveal

I had so much fun with the Blackbird line from My Mind's Eye this month. What a fabulously fun line! Here is my reveal for the Scrapping Turtle:
I still had lots of extra pieces so decided to make a few layouts in anticipation of this years haunts. Here they are:

Are they not the cutest little characters??? I don't think I've ever completed a layout before the pictures are even taken - a definite first for me.

My baby is 4!

It is so hard for me to believe but my little girl turned 4 years old today. Breaks my heart! Although, I am so proud of her. She has been doing so well with school so far, no real issues and is coming home daily with all of her work complete. She is so proud to show it all to us.
Here are some pictures of the cupcakes I made for her to take to class. They are little turkeys - just like her!

Halloween sneak

For the month of October I received the fabulous My Mind's Eye Blackbird collection from The Scrapping Turtle. There are so many fun add ons to this line - I just love the 'characters' but you'll have to wait to see what I've done with them. It was the perfect line for me as I finally got to scrap some of my halloween pictures from last year. Here's what I did for the sneak:

I'll be posting the rest of my reveal on the 15th so stay tuned...

I enjoyed

a day at the farm with Jenna's class yesterday. So cute watching all the little ones with the animals. Can you tell by this picture what Jenna thought?
Yep, the smell was too much for her - she held her nose everytime we went near the barn or pig pen. Not much of a farm girl in her...

She did enjoy being outdoors, seeing the pumpkins, corn field and 'outdoor' animals. She also absolutely loved spending time with her friends. Here are some of her favorite parts:

Still no answer

to the work question. It is definitely feeling stressful. It has past the deadline they supplied us however I have been talking to others who are also waiting and there's no answer there either. So I should consider it some relief knowing no one has any news, right?

Hopefully soon...

September reveal

at the turtle! I worked with the Snow much fun line by 3 bugs in a rug. Super fun, bright coloured papers with lots of interesting snowflake patterns. Here is what I came up with:

1st day!

Here are some pictures of my beautiful girls on their first full day of school together:

Can you tell how excited they are? Just jumping at the bit to go. Its fantastic they love school so much and are so excited to go, even if it is a little hard on mom.

I had to take a few extra ones of Jenna's first bus ride and arrival at school.

Well, this is it

only a few hours until my baby starts school. Where have these last 4 years gone? I know she's ready, just not sure I am. She is so pumped and excited, I know she'll have a great time and she is such a sponge I know she'll learn fabulous new things, everyday. I can't wait to learn through her.

and Laura, again, it is just so hard to believe she is moving onto grade 2 this year. She has come leaps and bounds in the past year. Her coordination and social skills have grown dramatically let alone all the formal training/ skills she has gained since starting school last year. I am so proud of the young girl she is becoming and can't wait to see what new things she will learn this year.

I'll update more tomorrow with some first day photos too.

September sneak peek

I was given the cute Snow Much Fun line by 3 bugs in a rug this month. I love the subtle snowflake design on some of these pages. The tone on tone really works well for backgrounds and are those penguins not the cutest?

Stay tuned for the rest of my layouts - I'll be able to post them after the 15th.

On the road again

Tommorrow that is... so I thought I would share a few layouts I've been working on before I leave. I am heading to Belleville so I can pick up my girls. They have spent the last week at Grandma and Grandpas - wow, was that hard! I know they had an awesome time though so maybe they will be able to do it again (in another 7 years).
I completed this one for a sketch challenge. I love how it turned out and the sheer joy on Laura's face in this picture. I've been wanted to use this road show paper for awhile and decided these older pictures would fit perfectly with the rustic feel of the paper. The girls are both so little here - its hard to believe Jenna will be starting school in a week.

DT reveal

Here is my reveal for August! I just loved this line of paper and used every single scrap. I think Echo park will definitely top my list for the next time I need to restock.

August 7, 2010

While the girls are away

mommy gets to play! Here's what I did last night:

This one is called: la dolce vita (the good life). I just love the look of exhausted happiness on Jenna's face.

Did some photoshop work on this photo before having it printed. I think it turned out well. I wanted to get a few people out of the background so the picture is all about Jenna's joy.

We'll see what I can do tonight...

Product of the month

at the Scrapping Turtle is smooch. A fun vibrant ink based pigment which has lost of depth and glitter. It absolutely sparkles! I used rubon butterflies and coloured in the white areas with smooch. I then mixed water with the smooch and used it for a watercolour affect on the chipboard pieces. Here is the layout I completed:I couldn't scan it because of the butterflies popping off the page and the picture is definitely not the best because of the glare on the right.

August sneak peek

I received the wonderfully beautiful and fabulously fun Sweet Summertime line by Echo Park. It has such a fun bright summer feel I just couldn't resist scrapping this picture of Jenna:I wanted to keep the layout clean so used some of the journalling cards and a chipboard frame to create a hidden journalling pocket. Here's a picture of it:

Scrapping has been keeping me sane

Although I cannot post my August sneak yet, I am absolutely in love with how it turned out. I will definitely share as soon as I can.

For the time being, here are a few new layouts I have been busy on:

So stressful!

The waiting that is. I have some important testing tomorrow which is making me quite anxious. Hopefully all will go well and I will have some good news to share soon. I've come to realize that it is going to be too hard to continue working for NRCS while this transition happens - its so hard to see a place I loved to work go through this change. Hopefully I will be able to move on to new and exciting things soon and not have to deal with the added stress remaining at my current position will cause. Everything seems to be happening fast so I have faith we will know soon.

July 21, 2010

Here's my July reveal

I received some uber cool goodies in my kit this month from the Scrapping Turtle. The paper is the Family Collection by Carollee's Creation. Add some cardstock stickers, buttons, ribbon and bling - perfect fit! Here's what I came up with:
