Rainy and wet

What a miserable day! So cold and wet. Hate that! It just gets down to your bones and makes everything cold. Looks like the next few days are not going to be any better. Oh well, another week and we'll have some visitors. Maybe they can bring the nice weather with them.

I've finished another few layouts for Elyse's album. Only 2 or 3 left until its done. Just in time to send back with mom and dad so Jack and Janice can take it down for Elyse's graduation. Thought I'd share the album cover with you - just a small sneak peek. Sure hope you all like it.

You'll have to wait and see it in person for the rest of the pages

What will she say next

After reading a book to Laura before bed she loves it if I lie down beside her so she can "tell me about her day". I have been loving this time with her. She's open, candid and actually talks. I know she's just trying to prolong bedtime but its still nice to hear about all the little day to day happenings.
So, earlier this week, on one such occasion she is telling me about how Ethan's mom is going to have a baby - in 3 days and Natalia is going to marry Oliver. Her friend Natalia's mom is also pregnant currently. In fact, she's due within the next two weeks so I wasn't surprised they have been talking about babies a little more than usual. Of course, I was a little surprised when she told me "Natalia's going to get the needle". When I asked her about this she stated the needle is how she's going to have the baby. I realized she meant an epidural but found this whole conversation a little surreal - I am definitely not ready for the baby talk with my 5 year old.

Another roller coster week

Why is it by the time I feel I can breathe and have the time to complete a post, another week has past? It truly amazes me how fast time seems to go, what things we miss just by living our everyday lives and what wonderfully inspiring things we encounter.

I took the girls to swimming lessons again last night. Fun times! Laura's instructor seems to really be helping her along. She LOVES being in the water but HATES putting her face in. I know, normal for a child. He seems to be helping her through it though so hopefully it will work out. I think as soon as she does, she'll be an absolute fish. Jenna had lots of fun too. Continues to jump, float and blow bubbles. Her favorite time is definitely play time on the slide. Last night she did some solo floats with the barbells which was lots of fun to see.

I also was able to sign Jenna up for some toddler classes. Some for May and one for the fall. I think she'll love them but regardless it'll be great to get her into some groups with other kids. Its one of the things she's really missing about daycare.

Today I took Jenna in to get some new photos. I was feeling a little guilty that I didn't have as many of Jenna alone as I do of Laura when she was a baby. So, we got 2.5 year photos done today. She did so great, they were all just too cute. Can't wait to get them back!

Happy Easter!

I hope you got to enjoy and rejoice in the day! Our weather was wonderful here so we spent a great deal of it outside - always such a wonderful thing at the first of spring. The girls even let us sleep in a little today and didn't get up until about 8. Truly a wonderful Easter gift for us!

The morning was so enjoyable. Both Jenna and Laura loved searching for eggs. With baskets full they were in their glory! They broke out their new bubbles and spent an hour this morning playing on the back deck. Laura and I enjoyed a beautiful Easter service and we had Jeff over for dinner tonight. A full and fulfilling day.

Although I am always thankful for all the wonderful gifts I have been given, a day like today always makes me appreciate things that much more. I hope you all enjoyed your day too.

Another week gone

where do they go so fast? I can't think of what I did this last week but as I came on today I realized it has been a week since I posted so something must have kept me away, right? just now sure what it was...

We started swimming lessons last night. Laura is now taking Sunfish. She still hasn't put her head (voluntarily) under the water so I'm not sure how she's going to do but I'm giving her a chance and hopefully she'll do well. She is now in the lap pool taking lessons - another growing stage. Jenna and I are taking lessons together. She is in the Duck class. Although she loves her bath she is very cautious of the pool and had a death grip on me at the beginning of the class. By the end she seemed to be getting better so I think this will be a great thing for her.

Work continues to be crazy. I'm looking forward for the long weekend and sure hope we can enjoy it as a family.

Sharon and Charlie leave on their vacation tomorrow. Its their 40th anniversary trip so I hope its wonderful for them. Its left me without a babysitter though so we are juggling lots of stuff over the next week to make sure Jenna is cared for. I'm sure it will all work out, just a lot of late nights at the computer for me over the next week.

What a week

between fielding sick kiddos, a visit from my parents, working and Mike attending a bargaining session for his new contact at work, its been quite a week.

It was great to see mom and dad. So glad they could come up and visit - its probably been the longest time between visits since they had grandbabies. I don't think it'll be that long again, in fact, looks like they are planning another trip in 4 weeks.

Mike got home tonight after a couple busy days negotiating. Looks like they might have a deal and he seems happy with the outcome so that's good. All confidential yet so no details though.

As for me, I'm still working away at Elyse's album. I finished another 3 pages tonight which puts me about 3/4 of the way done. I can't wait to let them see the finished product. Wish I had some more detailed journalling to add but without actually being there its hard. I think I'll take mom's advise though and add a few hidden journalling cards so Elyse can add her own thoughts.

On another note, I signed Laura up for a science summer camp in July. It looks really neat and is everyday for one week. I'm sure she'll like it and I hope she gets a thirst for science out of it. I know she's still so young but it can never hurt.
